Dabu printing is a traditional mud-resist hand-block printing technique, primarily known for its origins in the Bagru region of Rajasthan. Unlike pigment printing, which applies color to the surface, Dabu is a complex, multi-step process that creates beautiful, organic patterns through a resist-dyeing method.
Creating the Mud Resist: A paste is prepared using clay (dabu mud), gum, lime, and sometimes wheat chaff to create a thick, sticky substance.
Block Printing: Artisans use wooden hand-blocks to stamp this mud paste onto specific areas of the fabric where they want to prevent the dye from reaching.
Drying: Once the mud is applied, the fabric is dried in the sun to ensure the paste is firm and ready to resist the dye.
Dyeing: The fabric is then dipped into a dye vat, most commonly indigo. The parts covered in mud resist remain the original fabric color, while the rest of the cloth absorbs the dye.

2.Β Β Β Β Product colors may appear slightly brighter in images than in real life due to photography lighting.
3.Β Β Β Β Traditional printed suits may have slight irregularities, which are part of their natural charm.
4.Β Β Β Β Care Instructions: Recommended dry clean only to maintain fabric quality.
5.Β Β Β Β As each piece is made to order, dispatch will take approximately 2β3 working days.
6.Β Β Β Β Fabric length mentioned is approximate and may vary slightly.
Washing: Finally, the fabric is washed to remove the hardened mud, revealing the clean, white patterns against the dyed background.
Textural Quality: Because the mud can sometimes crack slightly during the drying process, it often creates a characteristic "vein-like" or crackled look in the final print, making every piece one-of-a-kind.
Natural Feel: Since Dabu typically uses natural dyes like indigo and earthy mud resists, the resulting fabric remains very soft and breathable, unlike the sometimes stiffer feel of pigment printing.
